Included here is a sampling of work from 2003/ 2004 focusing on the unintentional abstracts found on the streets of NYC, the results of decay, weathering, peeling billposters and stray spray can lines. The bleed through and layering of texture as Swoon’s alchemical wheatpaste solutions seep into the concrete, brick, wood, or blood red rusted metal that it’s applied too.
I had a solo show at Uzi Gallery in the East Village in 2004 showcasing this series of work. I currently live in the beautiful Sierra Nevada foothill town of Nevada City, my refuge after weathering NYC for 10 years almost to the day. I left my life in New York 9 years ago and have been here in California ever since. Just recently have I decided to revisit this work as I still have hundreds if not thousands of images that I have yet to sort through from that very fruitful period of my life. So here I am ready to tackle that endeavor and to try and build a feasible website while I’m at it. Let me know what you think and happy viewing!
All Images are available to be made as Prints or unique ready made pieces with the images applied to and sealed onto found and recycled materials such as old barn wood, salvaged metal, and anything else that catches my eyes at flea markets and junkyards. Soon I will have a link to this aspect of my work as well.
Update (9-15-16) Visit my newly opened Etsy page to see my unique Ready-Made pieces of art. My photography is mounted onto a variety of found, vintage, reclaimed and repurposed thrift store finds and salvaged weathered barn wood and beautifully patina’d metal.
